With their network maps airlines want to show off their (extensive) networks. These vary often from regional to global. Especially when the network of partners are shown as well to emphasize connectivity the maps get very cluttered if not useless.
Questions that arise could be: How can we generate network maps based on the time table of an airline. What role can map projections play, and how are those influenced by the ‘geography’ of the network?
This research aims at answering question like as above, but also implementation of an interactive map environment. After implementation an evaluation will inform about the effectiveness of the solution proposed.
To design and implement an interactive (3d?) map environment to show airline networks.
